Deployment Updates

Members of the Category 5 K9 Search Team have been very busy this summer with wilderness searches and deployments. The Search Team has supported 8 different wilderness searches in 5 Texas counties. In addition to supporting local law enforcement agencies, members of the team have deployed with Texas A&M Task Force 1 for three deployments.

Alumni K9 Canyon, Pferal, Astro, Loki, and search team members K9 Kimber, Remi, and Mystery deployed to aid in searches after the Perryton, TX Tornados. Alumni K9 Canyon and Pferal, along with search team members K9 Maui and Bones deployed to support recovery operations in Lahaina, HI after the Maui Wildfires. Finally K9 Bones, Renne, and Astro deployed to support search operations after Hurricane Idalia in Florida.

Foster Pupdates!

Handsome Hercules our search team washout was adopted by his foster this month! Hercules joined Category 5 K9 back in 2020 during peak COVID lockdown and made it clear early on that he enjoys the random game of fetch but doesn't want to be a search dog. We are so happy he found his forever home.

Maia joined us after Malinois Ranch Rescue was shut down. She is settling in with her foster and will be starting with heartworm treatment this month.
